Describe simplex, half duplex and full duplex transmission methods

Simplex, half-duplex and full-duplex transmission.

Simplex

These are very simple as they only transmit data one way. An example is a simple keyboard, where data only travels from the keyboard to a computer.

Full duplex

These can transmit data in both directions at any given time (hence the du- prefix meaning two/double). An example is a telephone call.

Half duplex

These can transmit data in both directions, like full duplex, but only one direction at any given time (hence the ‘half’). An example is a walkie-talkie.
